ECG Monitoring

As part of your assessment in the clinic, you will be sent a “cardiac screen” form to complete. Once one of our doctors has reviewed your responses, you may be asked to have an ECG. Not every patient will require an ECG.

Obtaining an ECG from your GP

Some GPs are prepared to carry out an ECG for the purpose of starting ADHD medication. However, as the ADHD and Autism Clinic is a private service, your GP may decline unless they require this for your direct care.  If you ask your GP to do your ECG, please remember that they are entitled to refuse this.

Arranging a private ECG

If you prefer, you may attend a private clinic, such as a private GP or a private hospital, to record your ECG. However, please be aware that this is likely to be costly.  A cheaper alternative would be our at-home ECG service.

Our at-home ECG service (AliveCor KardiaMobile 6L)

If you would rather arrange your own ECG or your GP cannot provide one, the cheapest alternative would be to use our at-home ECG service. There is a nominal charge of £20 to use this service to cover the cost of maintenance and postage.

  • Our at-home ECG service involves sending you a small handheld device which you would use to capture your ECG reading.
  • We provide protective packaging and a Freepost return envelope.
  • We provide full instructions to use this intuitive device, which captures your ECG reading via an app on your smartphone or tablet.
  • Please visit the compatibility checker to see whether your device is compatible with the at-home ECG device.
