ADHD medication costs

If you are offered medication to treat ADHD, you will be prescribed your medication on a private prescription.  Please note that ADHD medications are costly.  You should expect to pay between £50 and £100 per month for your medication.  You would need to continue receiving your medication via a private prescription until you reach a stable dose.  Thereafter, your psychiatrist can write to your GP to request a Shared Care Agreement.  If your GP agrees to the request, you will then be able to obtain repeat prescriptions of ADHD medication on an NHS prescription via the surgery’s usual repeat prescription service.  Please note that the conditions of the Shared Care Agreement mean that you will be asked to commit to an annual follow up appointment in The ADHD and Autism Clinic so that your medication may be safely supervised by an ADHD expert.
