Professionals Under Pressure

Understanding adult ADHD symptoms and late diagnosed autism

As a GP, mental health practitioner or education professional, it’s likely that you now see more adults in your care who display adult ADHD symptoms or who suspect they may have late diagnosed autism. As neurodiversity awareness increases due to ‘mainstream’ popularity, you see patients presenting with anxiety, burnout and emotional dysregulation who are looking for an adult ADHD assessment or private autism assessment.

Your patients can’t always wait years for answers, so GPs, mental health professionals and education professionals need a reliable UK based clinic with neurodevelopmental specialist clinicians to provide adult autism referrals and ADHD assessment referrals.

ADHD and Autism referral pathways

Many of our adult autism referrals come via GPs, mental health professionals and education professionals working with adults who have struggled to keep the mask on throughout their life.

Similarly, many adults are referred via GPs and mental health professionals because they have adult ADHD symptoms that need investigating through the ADHD referral pathway. Sometimes, menopause, untreated depression and anxiety or a child receiving a diagnosis is the trigger.

A private ADHD assessment or Autism assessment can help neurodivergent adults stop heading for burnout and allow them to build healthy coping strategies that work with their brain.

For many professionals, the support of neurodevelopmental specialist clinicians can help you to provide better treatment for your patients. After many years of not understanding why life feels so much harder, many of our clients find that their adult autism diagnosis or ADHD diagnosis later in life is the key to them thriving.

  1. An autism diagnostic referral includes a structured observation assessment using the ADOS-2 tool   to provide an objective measure.
